How to Engrave with Laser Foil

Add some color and shine to your woodworking projects!

Woodworking never goes out of style! With so many possibilities from small gifts or models to architecture and decor, woodgrain is an extremely popular engraving medium. Whether you go for a rustic look or a high-end polished finish, you can always add a pop of color and metallic shine with adhesive laser foils. This method is extremely fast, precise, and cost-efficient. Let's take a look!

First, clean your surface to avoid trapping any debris under the foil. Then, gently peel off the protective liner from the back of your foil to expose the adhesive. Apply the foil to your surface, pressing firmly to ensure contact between the adhesive and the wood. Make sure to push out any air bubbles. Basically, apply it like a regular sticker or decal.

The next step is engraving. Send your job to your laser and engrave! Once it is done, gently peel off the extra foil. Voila! Your sign is ready.

For the video above, we used LS100 Energy CO2 laser and Brushed Gold Laser foil (P#46120). Laser settings: Power: 25% (6.5 W), Speed: 20% (12 in/s), Vector cutting.
